CAPFT exam

Sun Mar 25, 2007, 4:40 PM
Well the last week i had to study my butt off for this major exam. Fortunaltley i did get paid for the time that i got to study. The exam was for the College of Alberta Professional Forest Technologist (CAPFT). Its a something that i need to belong to so that i can keep working without getting fined. It was suppose to be some crazy hard exam, so like a keener, i tried to study 5 hrs per day for 5 days and i came pretty close to achieving that too. Kinda proud of myself for that. Well the exam came and it wasn't as hard as they made it out to be, but still hard enough. There were a good number of people there that were rewritting. And i won't get the mark back till about the end of may. I hope i did good.

Hey, Green out there!

Sat Mar 17, 2007, 4:16 PM
Well, as it happens it is well past v-day and it is time for an update so here it is.

It is now St.Patricks day!! The happy green day, my favorite colour! Anyways yeah... The only new things with me is that I have boughten a new zoom lense. Its a 420-800mm lense. Huge!! Its about 8 inches not extented and about 12 or 14 inches fully extended. But its only manual focus and its a little tricky to take pictures with. But hopefully it will improve my photography skills and will be able to take some awesome pictures. I have already posted one picture taken with it, . And so I hope to take some cool bird shots with it and manage to work well fast.

So till i learn to master the super zoom I hope to post some good stuff soon.

Cheers

happy V-day

Wed Feb 14, 2007, 7:07 PM
Happy Valentines day to all and to all a good night!!

Wait... thats christmas. Oh well, same idea. Its suppose to be a good day for all and I hope it has. For me its been like every other day. I go to work at -25 or so plus a wind chill. And yesterday it was -39 here. BRRRRRR!!!!! Way to cold!!! And yes I know that I always complain about the weather, but I have nothing else to complian about. Its really the only thing that affects me on a day to day basis.

Anyways... yeah... I got nothing.

My haps this: What did people do on V-day this year or on past years that is somewhat memorable but not really realated to V-day?

I remember one year, me and niroszyckame and her brother went to watch Ong-bak in theaters and we got a heart shapped pizza at Boston Pizza. Thats the only that I can remember off the top of my head.

Would like to here others

The last shift, the weekend, and today.

Mon Jan 29, 2007, 5:03 PM
Well its been a little while since I've updated my journal and it seemed like lots has happened. Most of it is to do with work, but the weekend isn't of course. But still lots to talk about. I'll start with last work shift.

The shift didn't start well at all and it didn't get much better as it went on. First off the first day at work, I locked my keys in my truck. Not fun, and I was in the middle of no where to boot. Fortunatly me and my partner had the snowmobile keys so we can actually get around and go look for someone. I went to the highway and tried flagging someone down. The first 3 people I stopped didn't have a cell phone. Finally a pair of ladies had a cell phone that they let me use, (Thank-you so much). But to my dismay, someone couldn't come to unlock my truck for about another 3 hours. So I ended up calling someone from my crew that is working in a different area to come and pick us up. We also took the sleds for a rip in the ditch while we were waiting and ended up getting them stuck pretty good. So the end of that day we were both bagged. Couple more days pass and they weren't that great, just totally bagged tired.
On friday, me and someone else went to work in a different area and I get my truck stuck in a farmers field. Boooo!! Not fun, again. We managed to pull it out with the sled but then I got stuck again trying to turn around. It was starting to get late so, my partner went with the sled to find a farmer with a tractor to pull us out. And yes, she did find someone. We got out and that was that day. The next day, someone on my was sort of attacked by a deer. A buck chased her up a tree, and she stayed there for about 2 hours. Apparently it was pawing the ground and everthing, kinda scarry. On a high note for the shift, me and the person that I got stuck with on friday baked a pie and cookies for the farmer that helped us out as a thank-you. He was surprised and happy about them. The rest of the shift went by and that was that.

Well the weekend. It was good, the first 2 days I did basically nothing. I stayed in bed till noon and watched Ranma 1/2 episodes. Great times. On saturday, I went into the city. Its a 1 1/2 hour drive, but I saw 2 moose and a lynx!! And I even got a couple have decent pictures of the lynx. So it was a good start to the weekend. In the city I went to the pet expo with niroszyckame. It was really cool, lots of pets of all kinds. Dogs, birds, a few cats, bunnies, lizards, horses, ponies and they even had some more exotic animals, like a black bear and grizzly bear, a camel that we could get a ride on. That was awesome!
Later that night I went to the Oilers hockey game vs. LA kings, with a friend. It was a good game, and we won 4-3!!! YAY!! After the game I so wanted to go out to a club and dance or something, just had tones of energy, but nobody else wanted to. Kinda sad, but oh well. Ended going back to my friends place and watching a movie and falling asleep on a love seat couch. I recomend that no one ever do that, way too small. I was sore the next day and didn't get any sleep at all. And that was most of my weekend.

Well, back at work. Apparently someone had found a bear den in the area that I was working in on the weekend. And I had to go back to this area today. Me and Kerri (the person that I got stuck with) went back and checked it out a little, she had to GPS the site. I brought my camera and so tried to get a picture inside the den. Dangerouse, I know but I had to try. I used a stick to try and lower my camera into the den and setting it on timer to take the picture. I tried a couple shots in the morning, but none really turned out. Later that day I had to go back the that area, alone, so being the photographer that I am, I tried getting a couple more shots. Found a longer stick with a better notch to hold the camera and tried it again. I took one, it didn't turn out. Was thinking it over before trying again, finally I tried one last time, I got the camera down in there really good and took the picture, then I high tailed it out of there without even checking if I got a good shot. My heart was beating so fast!!! I get a good distance from the den and check my picture. Its a perfect picture of the bears face and the eyes were wide open!!! It was awake!!!!!!!! Scarry!!!!! The whole way back to my sled I had my knife out and ready. It was intense!!! But its an awesome picture.

And so that has been my adventures of the last 2 weeks. Seemed busy, kinda was. And man, what a rush. I will post a bunch of pics shortly after this journal.
